Timeless classics
Walk down any grand avenue in one of Europe’s big cities and you will see striking blue street signs that command your attention in the most understated way. Travel back to the 19th century and every single one of these signs was produced using porcelain enamel and that is why many still exist today. At RAMSIGN, we are enraptured by the enduring appeal of these signs and have paid tribute to them with our Metropolitan collection.
Original french house numbers
Long before house numbers and street names were manufactured from enamel, they were painstakingly hand-painted onto buildings.
The European industrial revolution modernized this process. This allowed for mass production to be used to make signs.
Back in the 1800s, ultramarine blue was the only color available and signs of this color have since become recognized as the typical French house numbers.
The Metropolitan Collection - customize vertical house numbers and more
Add a dash of European charm to your home or workspace with our Metropolitan collection. Each mailbox number plate follows the traditional, authentic manufacturing methods used in the 19th century. This makes our signs ultra-durable, weatherproof, and irresistible to touch. The delicate raised relief and glossy finish will remain as good as new despite exposure to weather meaning that your house number will always create a great first impression. Create a house name sign or a mailbox number plate - the choices are endless.
Why is this collection of modern address numbers special?
Not only is the Metropolitan collection RAMSIGN’s first collection, but it is also the one that embodies the original essence of enamel signage.
